Winner of the Fraternity Contest

The poster for the 2003 Fraternity Campaign, prepared by the team of the Laboratório de Criação (Creation Lab) of the Publicity and Advertising course, of the Faculdade de Comunicação of the Catholic University of Santos - UniSantos - was the winner of the contest held by the CNBB (National Conference of Bishops of Brazil ). The campaign's motto will be "Life, Dignity and Hope", which addresses the theme "Fraternity and the elderly".To create the poster, the students were guided by Professor Cinara Augusto, coordinator of the Creation Lab. They say that the work was arduous, having the image emerged after a lot of research. The team went to the streets, photographing the elderly, their sweetness and contentment.

"The willingness to help and the joy of the elderly we discovered, in personal contact, won us over at every step", says Beatriz Barbalho Marques, a 4th-year student. After the poster was produced, getting the symbol character's permission to use the photo took extra effort and goodwill, even from people we didn't even know, to whom we just have to thank."

"Seo" Geraldo had been photographed at random in the city of Embu das Artes, a community of artists in São Paulo, and he had not been seen playing his accordion in the streets of that municipality for a long time. “Locating his relatives was difficult. Finding out he was fine, at 85, but living in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, was a scare. And meeting him, with the collaboration of the diocese here and there, was a huge joy.

For the team at the Creation Laboratory, "the making of the poster for the CNBB 2003 campaign was a unique and exciting opportunity for the exercise of fraternity".
